Executive Safety Standards and Assurance
- Job Description:
- As the Executive for Safety Standards and Assurance, your primary responsibility is the overall development and execution of the Safety Standards and Assurance Divisional Strategy within SACAA.
- Youll oversee and manage work programs related to safety standards and assurance, personnel licensing, and aviation medicine. This alignment ensures compliance with both the SACAAs legislative mandate and ICAO regulations.
- Strategic support to the SACAA Director of Civil Aviation and the Board is also part of your role.
- Strategic Support and Alignment:
- Youll provide support to the Director of Civil Aviation by implementing safety standards and assurance programs. These programs contribute to an efficient and effective safety framework aligned with SACAAs mandate.
- Managing the overall Safety Standards & Assurance strategy and translating SACAAs vision into actionable imperatives are critical.
- Financial Management:
- Youll compile and manage the Safety Standards & Assurance budget annually, ensuring alignment with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and other relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- People Management:
- Fostering a high-performance culture and creating a positive working environment for staff fall under your purview. Staff morale and productivity are key considerations.
- Policy Development and International Representation:
- Leading regulatory reviews and submissions related to safety standards and assurance is part of your role.
- Additionally, youll serve as an international representative for South Africas interests in standards development.
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum: Pilot License (ATPL) or CPL (Commercial Pilot License) along with commensurate aviation training or qualification.
- Ideal: Pilot License (ATPL) or CPL plus a relevant post-graduate qualification.
- Experience: At least 10 years of senior management experience, particularly in aviation safety operations or a related field.
