To start with, the position of R&D Pilot Plant Team Lead sits comfortably in the R&D Facilities Department. An incredibly diverse team that helps each other learn, grow and develop. As an R&D Pilot Plant Team Lead you will be accountable for all aspects of people, assets and budget connected to the cutting edge Pilot Plant Facilities in our Utrecht and Joure sites, leading a multi-disciplinary team including Engineers, Technicians and Safety specialists. For this, we don’t just need you to be a knowledgeable professional but also strongly rely on your interpersonal skills as well as your drive for success. Know that you’ll have a crucial role in creating and protecting the impact we look for in our value chain. With this said, we like you to take responsibility over the following tasks:
- Accountable for safe day to day operation of the pilot plant and the systems needed to ensure this
- Accountable for CAPEX/OPEX budget and planning the investment roadmap to ensure the Pilot Plant facilities remain cutting edge, working with the other R&D managers to understand the capabilities the Pilot Plant requires to support the running platforms, programs and projects
- Management of the detailed process design, installation, and engineering project management (including cost and program management) within the buildings and facilities of Utrecht R&D – in consultation with the overall site facilities management.
- Compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements during project development, project execution and commissioning must be ensured at all times
- Line management of a multi-disciplinary team including Pilot Plant specialists, Technicians and Safety specialists (potentially a number of interns also). Responsible for implementation of all people-processes including career development, succession planning, objective setting and performance reviews
Qualifications
We are looking for an Experienced Project and People Manager with a drive for excellence. Someone that holds themselves accountable and doesn’t shy away from responsibility. Given the nature of the role we feel it’s important for you to have 5+ years experience and a proven track record in process engineering and project management within the food industry as well as a solid understanding of your own added value. We thrive in diverse teams and look for people that appreciate that as much as we do. We can give you a list of “must haves,” however that’s not how we view your candidacy. We do, of course, take into consideration how much experience you have with Health and Safety Leadership and Experience in HAZOP/HACCP but ultimately, we look at the bigger picture. But to give you a bit of guidance as to what we feel is needed in this role, we’ll share our “nice to have” list with you:
- Experienced use of MS tools
- Project management certification
- H&S Certification (e.g. NEBOSH)
