Wanted – Class one Load Pilot

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Class 1 Over-Dimension Load Pilot to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and legal movement of over-dimensional and heavy loads on public roads. You will work closely with the transport team, helping with the loading/unloading process, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met, and communicating clearly with the transport team.

Candidates must be Rotorua based.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pilot Class 1 & 2 over-dimensional vehicles
  • Communicate effectively with transport teams, law enforcement, and relevant authorities to coordinate safe passage.
  • Assess and plan routes for over-dimensional transport, taking into account road conditions, bridge clearances, and any other obstacles.
  • Provide guidance and direction to drivers during transport, ensuring smooth operation and compliance.
  • Respond to any emergencies or issues that arise during transport.
  • Complete daily reports and maintain accurate logs for all operations.
  • Assist with vehicle unloading/loading.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license. (Class 5 would be beneficial)
  • Proven experience as a class one Over-Dimension Pilot
  • Strong knowledge of over-dimensional transport regulations and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Sound knowledge on the central North Island OD routes
  • Machine experience would be beneficial

Rotorua Forest Haulage Ltd is a large transport company based in Rotorua predominantly servicing the log transport industry. RFH has a modern fleet comprising of mainly late model Kenworth log truck and trailers that operate throughout the wider Bay of Plenty.

RFH has a large workshop located in Rotorua close to the amenities and the world-famous Red Woods.
