Microcaps is an ETH Zurich spin-off founded in March 2019. Our unique technology allows us to produce highly precise and innovative microcapsules that empower materials to unlock new capabilities, all tailored to various markets from cosmetics to nutraceutical and pharma.
Today, Microcaps technology can be found in a cosmetic skin serum and a vegan caviar. As we progress, our aim is to expand our production capacity and introduce a visionary and sustainable water-based fine fragrance. Lab technician/ Operator for the Pilot Plant, 100%
Our encapsulation platform provides opportunities for a wide range of applications and solutions for the cosmetic, food and pharmaceutical industries. After successfully launching our first products in cosmetics, we want to continue our success story and bring even more products to market.
As Lab technician/Operator for your pilot plant you bridge the gap between lab scale, your pilot plant, and the industrial scale machines at our contract manufacturer. You independently conduct industrialization trials and small-series productions. You share your experiences with the production team at our contract manufacturer. In all areas, you keep an eye for potential improvements regarding process parameters, work instructions, and machine & infrastructure conditions.
Tasks
- Independent operation, monitoring, and cleaning of your pilot plant
- Independent provision of raw materials and preparation of pre-phases
- Precise execution and documentation of work instructions & in-process controls
- Troubleshooting and execution of minor repairs & maintenance work
- Monitoring & Maintenance of production-relevant infrastructure, supported by external service providers if necessary
- Guiding and training the production team at the contract manufacturer based on your experience
- Process and plant optimization including reduction of waste within the framework of Lean and Shop floor management
- Compliance with and enforcement of our safety, quality, and hygiene standards
Requirements
- Completed basic or advanced training as a food, dairy, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical technician; alternatively: baker, cook, or similar with technical training as a plant operator.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in a GMP-regulated production environment in the food, cosmetic or pharma sector or related industries.
- Partially flexible working hours, including a willingness to travel (50% on average)
- Team-oriented, communicative work style embedded in process teams & shop floor management
- Ability and enjoyment of self-organization
- High awareness of safety-, hygiene-, and quality standards
- Enthusiasm to build something new or to continuously improve something existing
- Very good German (B2+) and good English skills (B1+) are a must, French is a plus
- Very good Office 365 knowledge regarding Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word & Excel
- Training as 1st responder is a plus
