Job Description

LIAT (2020) Limited is seeking a safety-conscious and team-oriented Chief Pilot to join our team. The Chief Pilot will assist the Director of Flight Operations in the operational control and the safe management of flight operations, training, discipline, resources, and administration of the department in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and conditions set out in LIAT’s Aircraft Operator’s Certificate and industry practice.

Responsibilities

  • Head the interdepartmental team tasked with managing the introduction of new/replacement aircraft into the airline.
  • Assist the Director of Flight Operations in maintaining ongoing relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the airline complies in a timely manner with all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the General Operations Manual is kept up-to-date and includes all data necessary to comply with legal and company requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the fuel management and conservation programme.
  • Responsible for pilot utilization, discipline, and all matters related to line performance in general.
  • Responsible for Operational Control of LIAT’s flight operations and management of the Department in the absence of the Director of Flight Operations.
  • Develop and check line standards.
  • Monitor all accidents and incidents and investigate them where appropriate.
  • Ensure that all pilots are route and airfield qualified and briefed for all operations.
  • Develop the fuel management and conservation programme.
  • Liaise with Air Traffic Control to ensure optimum efficiency in procedures and routings.
  • Carry out risk assessments of proposed flight operations.
  • Devise risk reduction measures for flight operations.
  • Ensure Technical liaison between Flight Operations, Safety Management, and Engineering.
  • Manage and action all Captains Voyage Reports.
  • Input to industry and Regulatory bodies on issues that impinge on Flight Operations.
  • Develop and act as Chairman of the Flight Operations Technical Committee.
  • Comply with the relevant manuals; particularly the Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Perform such other duties as may be reasonably required as commensurate with the position.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or other related discipline.
  • Airline Transport Pilot License with ATR 42/72 “600 Series” type rating.
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience working within the transport Logistics Industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and conditions stipulated by Aircraft Operator’s Certificate and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for Flight Operations training, discipline, and general administration.
