Key Responsibilities

  • To evaluate students’ knowledge and skills in helicopter flight instruction.
  • To adhere to the daily training program, including take-off times and sortie durations.
  • To comply with Horizon standards for teaching exercises and grading sorties.
  • To ensure accurate completion of daily sortie reports, signed by both Instructor and student, and filed in the student’s personal file.
  • To record student flying time correctly in the logbook and student’s personal file.
  • To report incidents and accidents as necessary.
  • To assist students with endorsed logbook entries.
  • To suggest improvements or corrective actions for the training syllabus or program.
  • To report non-compliance to the Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) or Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manager.
  • To address student misconduct.
  • To perform additional duties assigned by the CFI.
  • To ensure students meet medical requirements for flight, including wearing glasses and carrying a spare pair if needed.
  • To act as course mentor when designated by the CFI.
  • To comply with GCAA regulations and all relevant laws.
  • To adhere to Horizon Operations, Training, and Safety Management Manuals.
  • To follow Horizon Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • To provide training according to the Horizon Aviation Training Manual.
  • To complete necessary forms accurately.
  • To maintain Horizon resources in good condition.
  • To promote essential aviation values such as airmanship, teamwork, and CRM at all times.

Experience & Education
  • To be fluent in English, speaking and writing at ELP level 4 minimum.
  • To hold a valid class 1 medical with no restrictions – Single Pilot.
  • To have at least 2000 hours of flying experience, including 500 hours of instructional experience, and have conducted ab initio training for at least two courses.
  • To hold a valid license (CPL IR/H or ATPL/H).
  • To have previous experience as a Flight Instructor (FI) in an ATO (civilian), with a preference for ex-military background; Bell 505 & 429 type rating is a plus.
  • To have been a current pilot within the last year.
  • To be under the age of 55.

Key Skills
  • To possess high-level instructional techniques and advanced knowledge in all subjects (CPL and ATPL) and moderate knowledge of regulations CAR OPS, AIP, CAAP, and EASA.
  • To be computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • To have strong teamwork, organizing, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
