pilot – air transport

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
• Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:
• Commercial Pilot Licence – fixed wing
• Airline Pilot Transport Licence – fixed wing
• Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Licence
• Multi-instrument Flight Rating
• Small jet airplane

Work Setting

• Rural area
• Staff accommodation available
• Willing to relocate

Tasks

• Fly fixed wing aircrafts or helicopters
• Monitor operation of engine and aircraft systems during flight
• Co-ordinate flight activities with ground crews and air-traffic control
• Conduct in-flight tests and monitor functioning of aircraft equipment and systems during flights
• Conduct pre-flight inspection of aircraft and check passenger and cargo distribution
• Contact control towers for takeoff clearances and other information
• Maintain communications with flight dispatchers and weather forecasters
• Prepare flight evaluation reports

Security and Safety

• Criminal record check
• Airport security clearance
• Medical exam

Transportation/Travel Information

• Vehicle supplied by employer
• Valid driver’s licence
• Willing to travel regularly
• Travel expenses paid by employer
