REQUIREMENTS

  • Affirmative Action South African citizen
  • National N.Diploma/ National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Qualified Toolmaker (Tool, Jig and Die Maker)
  • At least 3 years of technical experience in the automotive industry and extensive knowledge of the vehicle production process
  • 3-5 years of experience in Jigs and Fixtures, or 3-5 years of measuring experience in Jigs and Fixtures

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Be familiar with detailed technical drawings and fixture drawings
  • Have proven analytical skills with an innovative approach to problem-solving
  • Able to create detailed reports for distribution to relevant departments and senior management
  • Good communication skills (able to communicate at all levels, through presentations, verbally and in writing)
  • Willing to work overtime at short notice and willing to work shifts, and be on call-out/ standby
  • Competent in Microsoft packages (e.g. MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)

ADDED ADVANTAGE

  • German language proficiency
  • Experience in CATIA, CAD, Hyper KVS
  • Previous body shop/ vehicle dimensional experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the introduction of new models and model year changes through pre-series build 
  • Ensure that a vehicle is delivered consistently and according to the required KONZERN quality levels and meets the customers’ expectations throughout the life cycle of the product
  • Assist supporting departments in the pre-series build
  • Support the launch team with facility functionality, dimensional milestones, Meisterbock acceptance, surface quality improvements, corrosion milestones and supporting series production and quality in achieving quality targets (dimensional targets/ functional/ stability/ BIW audits/ final vehicle audit/ DRR/ flow-out) fitment trials, problem detections and resolution
  • Investigate build/ audit-related problems (root cause analysis, establishment and implementation of corrective actions)
  • Assist the process engineer and CFT leader in designing and implementing new/ modified facilities or gauges to improve the building process
  • Provide feedback in the form of written and visual presentations on corrective actions at management reviews
  • Manage problem sheets (raising, follow up and closure of problem sheets)
  • Ensure the stability of assemblies and coordinate the non-conformities found with relevant parties (parts, facilities and process)
